Homework and Recording Links

After each session, your homework and the recording link will be posted here.

Session 1: Ensure Your Target Audience Wants Your Product

Sept. 9, Tues., 1:00-2:00 PST/4:00-5:00 EST

Too many people have garages full of unsold product. Even if your product is electronic, you want to uncover the needs of your target market — what they want and will pay for. You don’t want to waste time producing something no one buys. This first step is the foundation on which successful products are built.

If it doesn’t play in Windows Media Player try Quicktime.

Homework

  • Write a description of your target market
    Who are they?
What does my target market want help with? What is their pain? (Interview a few key contacts w/in this target market)
    • Ask some of your target market:
What are the work issues that are most troubling to you now?
What have you tried that has worked a bit?
What have you tried that hasn’t worked?
If you could learn how to resolve issues like this, what would be the best way to learn new methods? (In-person course, coaching, just-in-time video lessons, short reading, audio to listen while commuting/working out)
What would you spend to have useful ideas on how to reduce this issue from haunting you?
  • Do a competitive analysis.

Please send your responses — even if they are brief — to your buddy by the date you agreed on, and to me by noon Monday. I will comment on what I think will be relevant to the others, so your homework may or may not get my comments.

Session 2: Plan Your Product

Sept. 16, Tues. 1:00-2:00 PST/4:00-5:00 EST

We’ll go through the process of planning what you’ll create so you ensure you include what’s important to potential buyers. You’ll have a step-by-step roadmap to implement in week 3.

Session 3: Record Your Product

Sept. 23, Tues., 1:00-2:00 PST/4:00-5:00 EST

We’ll walk through what you need to record your product. You’ll see how you can redeploy elements of previous work so this step will be easier than you think. Then this week you’ll create your product and get feedback. (Plan an extra hour to your homework allotment so you can review your learning buddy’s output.)
